A conscientious, patient-focused dentist, Claire specialises in helping nervous patients overcome their anxiety by utilising an empathetic approach.
Hailing from Plymouth, on the south coast of Devon, Claire obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from The University of Birmingham, UK in 2008. After spending several years working as a general dentist encompassing both NHS and private services, Claire and her husband decided to move to New Zealand for an improved work-life blend. Claire worked in Glenfield and Silverdale before choosing to start-up a dental practice close to her home in Whangaparāoa.
Claire's vision for the Dental Studio focuses on creating and maintaining smiles for life and challenging perceptions of dentistry by providing high-quality, comprehensive care in a welcoming environment.
She is currently pursuing her interest in orthodontics by undertaking a 2 year postgraduate diploma and completing Invisalign clear aligner training.
Claire acquired her Masters degree in Forensic Odontology (with Distinction) from The University of South Wales, UK in 2013. She regularly assists the Police and Coroner with the identification of unknown human remains and is an active member of the New Zealand Society of Forensic Odontology. In December 2019, Claire was deployed as a member of the Forensic Odontology Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team following the Whakaari/White Island volcanic eruption.
In her spare time, she enjoys scuba diving, gardening and spending time with her husband, 3 children, dog and cats. Claire is also a huge fan of The Beatles and despite living on the other side of the world, she continues to follow her football team, Plymouth Argyle.
